If you like a game that gives you the ability to just blow a LOT of things up – or a game with some hard-hitting action that can ignore physics – then you will not want to miss out on Just Cause 2, from Avalanche Studios, Eidos Interactive and published by Square Enix.
Special agent Rico Rodriguez is back in Just Cause 2, and with him comes a tough new arsenal and a tough new game engine. This time, Rico’s mission is to overthrow the vicious dictator: Pandak “Baby” Panay on the island of Panau.
In this article, I will reveal 5 secret tips to help you succeed in your battles against government officers, gangs, and military outposts. The following tips are divided into two sections: Ground Combat Tips – where I reveal useful strategies to help you avoid being overcome by your enemies, and Air Combat Tips – where you can rule the skies of Panau.
GROUND COMBAT TIPS:
1. Stay Out Of The Open
While battling enemies on foot, stay away from open areas. Some enemies group together then respond in a more aggressive way which can become quite overwhelming for you.
A better way is to creep around corners then take out your enemies one by one.
2. Grapple Your Way Out Of Tight Situations
One of your most useful tools in the game is the Grappling hook. Use it to get out of all those tight situations. Like when your bombarded with enemies all around you, simply hook up to a nearby car, boat, or plane for a really fast getaway. Or, use it for taking out those pesky snipers; by pulling them off buildings usually results in an instant kill. Finally, enemies with turrets on the back of vehicles or base stations can quickly be separated from their guns with the grappling hook. Just move your grappling cursor over the enemy, wait for it to turn red, then rip him out of there!
3. Stationary Turrets Are Moveable; So Use Them!
Your stored ammo is precious, if you don’t want to waste it, find a stationary Turret and rip it off its mount. These Turrets come with unlimited ammo and are great for taking out vehicles (both ground and air). The only draw back to using one, is that they make you move more slowly around your environment.
AIR COMBAT TIPS:
4. Rule The Skies
If you want to rule the sky, then the helicopter is what you’ll want. Using the helicopter is the most effective (and fun) way to scope out those military bases, then blow up guard towers, fuel storage tanks, and Radio Towers. But remember, doing this may cause reinforcements to be called in – which can include other attack helicopters. When being attacked by enemy helicopters, try to avoid being at the same level as them, as this is where their bullets can really reach you. Instead, gain some altitude over them, then fire your missiles (or bullets) down at them for some quick kills.
5. Para-Grapple Your Way Around
When sailing around in the air with your parachute, use your grappling hook and “Para-Grapple” the environment to get around fast. What I mean is throw your grappling hook and connect it to either a nearby plane, car, tree, bike, person, helicopter, building, boat, bridge (or just about anything) to quickly travel from one area to another.
There you have it, 5 tips to help you get the edge over your enemies. Have fun and remember: playing games excessively is not really good for you, so try to keep your game play at a minimum and spend some time out doors with your friends.
